Ookami to Koushinryou (Spice and Wolf) 1

I watched this days ago..its just that I only found the time to do this now >.<.So I feel that so far this anime has captured my attention first(though zetsobu sensei season 2 raws are out and minami-ke okawari is no where to be seen yet).

So here we have a cat girl mystical creature from the medieval ages(cute ^^).Its a light novel adaption with 6 volumes in Japan with current sales of over 500k copies.Well i previewed the raws and watched the subs and its great. Its basically about travelling but not so much to learn life lessons like Kino no Tabi or to kill supernatural monsters like Mushishi.Mostly about trading/merchant life. Its a good break from the usual boring pace of anime getting churned out like toilet paper these days.H games,ps2 games, fanservice anime, retarded comedy types, overused school life dramas…and the list goes on.No wonder so many animes get forgotten they are better off that way.Being of the seinen genre I am almost certain there will be minimal non-sense in this 12 episode series.

Above we have the ending theme.Very nice(unless a Japanese girl singing in English is not nice) since its just too adorable. Its like those kid nursery rhymes kids sing in kindergarten.Makes old people like me feel young again >.< pretend you didn’t see that.”Seven apples on the witches tree~” XD its stuck in my head lol.

Thoughts on the episode:

I’m looking forward to see how horo and lawrence’s relationship develop while restraining myself from peeking at potential spoilers from the manga/novel.I was told Chloe is an original character not found in the novel so I am curious as to how it plays out. While I have no complaints animation wise(love the wheat fields) I just hope they maintain the unique aura that sets this apart from the other lesser titles(disappointing & mediocre) IMO this season so far.Of course I am referring to the first seasons NOT the ones with season 2/3/4 of which I have no interest to watch.

Just a formality for a new series:

Potential spoilersSummary

Craft Lawrence, a 25 year old peddler travelling from town to town selling and buying various things to make a living during a period much like Europe in the Middle Ages. One night when stopped at the town of Pasroe, he finds in his wagon a 250 year old pagan wolf deity girl named Holo. She appears to be that of a 15 year old girl, except for a wolf tail and ears. She introduces herself as the town’s goddess of harvest who has kept it blessed with good harvests of wheat for many years. Despite having the responsibility to watch over the town, she wants to go back to her homeland in the north called Yoitsu, she believes the people have already forsaken her anyway and that she has kept her promise to maintain the good harvests. She manages to bargain her way out of the village by making a deal with Lawrence to take her with him. As they travel, her wisdom helps increase his profits, but at the same time, her true nature draws unwanted attention from the church.

Umm I put a slashout on the “cat girl” thing. It was a joke to poke fun at the over-abundance of cat girls in anime over the last few months. If you had read on,I did mention she was a wolf.
